 | A day after he was erased from First Ave's wall of stars, HMS/ST curiously came to the decision that today would be the right time to come back to Instagram and Twitter. He quickly racked up a couple dozen reply tweets, a few hundred Likes on Twitter, and a quad digit number of Likes on Instagram. There was no acknowledgment of WHY he engaged in those "many months of quiet reflection," nor why his star had been painted over. No mention of his deleted "apology" or responses to his victims, or Modist, or Harold's on Main, or other entities I'm not remembering. It's really the latest effort in his team's continuingly baffling effort at a PR campaign and I'm still not buying. It appears that he's content to throw out a tweet or a gram and let the legions of folks still following him - or perhaps completely ignorant of what went down back at the beginning of the year - do the hard work of lifting him up with supportive comments and decrying "cancel culture."
Just my two cents, of course - it's still a Facebook wall after all - but I find no reason to suddenly stop believing survivors of sexual assault and sexual abuses. With every bit of the very tiny amount of social capital I can muster, I still stand with and believe the survivors and encourage you to continue to deplatform predators.
A few other folks who spoke up today found themselves quickly blocked for speaking up, and quickly spoke up to let the world know it had happened - another curious PR move. I'm sure I'm a step or two away from joining them. I only found out about today's activity when I saw a friend's feed open up with his face right at the top. Still can't hide from the "wrong" people.
To the extent that there's any hype left...don't believe the hype. I also encourage you to continue to dismiss any attempts to generate any new hype - no matter how many pictures of adorable animals might accompany it. |

|  | A year ago, I jumped on a chance to host a live show on KFAI on Saturday, July 4th, and asked for your requests to help me seed the playlist. An exciting discussion ensued, attached to this status. The end product was a show I called "Friendsourced 4th" and it was just good enough to act as a backdoor pilot to keep me coming BACK to KFAI every Saturday since then presenting KFAI Weekend on Demand. This Sunday is ALSO July 4th, and I have the good fortune to announce that we'll be encoring this, my first weekend program, on KFAI's second stream at its original broadcast time of 3PM as well as again at 10PM to provide a soundtrack to your neighbours' fireworks display. | 17.6.21 21:49 | |  | DOIN' THE DEW AND DOO DOO: It's been the talk of Facebook since I posted of its existence - what - WHAT - does this yellow pineapple lookin' Dew taste like? Now, if you know me, you know that I...have a strong, intense dislike for pineapple, so I wasn't gonna buy the 12 pack. I DID buy this 20oz bottle though - for YOU - because YOU, who surprisingly and incredibly care very much what I think of all these crazy varietals - YOU demand it of ME. (Or you're a known, vocal lover of all things pineapple like Rachel, to whom I dedicate this post.) And so, here we are. Seeing that coconut was right next to pineapple on the label made me feel like I wasn't outright burning the two bucks to buy it, so what the hell...
And you know what? It's.....OKAY. It's NOT BAD. I am NOT MAD AT IT. I am SURPRISED ENOUGH TO USE CAPITAL LETTERS. I THINK I'm still glad I didn't buy a 12 pack but it's still kinda Dew in its own way and the coconut takes a prominence that makes it a really interesting and thirst-quenching drink! It's also got almost as much sugar as a Liberty Brew (74g in this 20oz bottle) and a Dew-like level of caffeine (92mg) which made me screw the cap back on and put it back in the fridge for me to enjoy when I don't have to be awake and at KFAI in 8 hours.
VERDICT: It's not piña colada Dew...I don't know you can adequately categorize it except "yep, another Dew - they did it again, Cubbie" and leave it at that...that is, until the caffeine kicks in. HEYWOW
This one is part of the "100 Days of Baja" promotion so if you like it, stock up IMMEDIATELY - these things never last as long as they say they will.
