4.11.15 22:34 Joe Jackson was probably the first punk I ever liked (because the first time I heard him was probably a "Night and Day"-era single on the Top 40 station when I was too young to know how punk he was). I'm so glad he's still punk and will always be punk. I'm astonished that I actually saw him AND Graham Maby live tonight. I didn't even hear about this concert until the weekend. He drew a cover out of hat and it was "Scary Monsters!" He did tracks off his new album I'd never heard before and they were really good! He did all the hits I wanted to hear! He covered Joni MItchell! But the REAL crime is that two balcony seats to my right went unoccupied the entire night - I hope those dudes had fun not seeing Joe Jackson, but I can't even imagine how that's possible. Best part was the encore where they covered FINK. (That joke will make sense to nobody but the guy who won't read this status) Last best part was the Kraftwerk-style exit the band does to "Slow Song" where, on the last night of the American leg of his tour, Joe's voice FINALLY gave out trying to hit the last high notes. But we still left on a high. As Jim Ross would occasionally say, "aw, fans, I wish you could be here" and the only thing in the world that could have made it any better is if you had been sitting next to me in those empty seats. Thanks Marcus for the tip, I hope it was even better for you.
