I was so so very fortunate this afternoon to spend some in-person time with Sharla for the first time since, like, 7th grade, and you'd never know it had been over thir-- well, a largish number of years since then. I shared my theory of how we don't really change who we are even with all that happens to us and don't know how well I sold it, but I think I managed to prove to her I was still "strange, different, but still nice...too smart" - all things she wrote in my yearbook - while she managed to show me that she was still incredibly gracious, easily accepting of all my eccentricities, knows a lot of stuff about a lot of stuff, still marches to the beat of her own drummer and most importantly may be the sweetest person I have ever known and was so happy to have not forgotten. But MOST IMPORTANTLY, though she proved surprisingly elusive, I managed to capture her in this very rare selfie which I know she has been dreading me posting here for hours. ;-) Thanks for the time today, Sharla...and thanks Shelly for finding her on Facebook.
