19.7.15 19:47 | | CODA: Power came back on half an hour ago! (I was napping.) If you had 41 hours, 13 minutes in the pool, you won. I apologise to Xcel for my skepticism that they wouldn't have me fixed by midnight. |
19.7.15 16:28 | | 38 hours: Xcel had at least been by to confirm that "it looks bad." Our neighbor has decided to just get this tree taken down while there's an opportunity. Quick survey of neighbors suggests none of us really believe we'll have power on Monday. The WORST part is I'll probably miss WWE Battleground live! (photo) |

18.7.15 22:32 | | 20 hours since power went out: After it got really dark in the house and I could no longer read, I decided to come to my office and steal some power and Internet. Xcel's site estimates restoration of power at my site at "7/19/2015 11:59 PM" which I'm not sure I believe. (Why, I'd start to suspect they don't like paying folks to restore power on the weekends if it weren't for what they were telling the news! http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2015/07/18/xcel-energy-outages-drop-to-96k-no-estimate-on-full-power/) On my way home, I'm gonna pick up 60 pounds of ice and restock the fridge/freezers since I'm now looking at a possible additional 24 hours. Hmmm, I wish I'd brought the leftovers to work to microwave. I'd stop at White Castle on the way home but I'm not sure that giving myself acid reflux is the best way to accentuate this situation. What else is open this late? Is Popeyes open this late? Am I actually hungry? Maybe I'll be hungry in an hour. Let's revisit this discussion then. |

18.7.15 18:35 | | 16.5 hours without power - I plugged the phone into the car, recycled all my aluminum cans (only $7 this time), went to Pho 79 because I wasn't sweating enough apparently, got home with the phone back to 50%!,(MISSING) tried to nap in an 83° bedroom, went out back and pulled everything with a thorn in it, including all the yardberries, now I have a million little scratches on my arms. Amazingly, the ice in the freezer is still ice! Phone is back to 29%!s(MISSING)o I'll probably turn it off and - what's left to do? Guess I'll take a bath and - get this - read a book. |
