11.9.15 02:12 | | Amongst the many benefits of all this walking, by the time I get home, I've had plenty of time to let the alcohol wear off and, along with it, about 90% of the stuff I probably would have burdened you with in a Facebook wall post. HOWEVER, I don't want to share NOTHIN', either. I have a lot of friends here who are really good about sharing themselves and I would like to be better about being that way myself but I ALSO know that about 98%!o(MISSING)f you are really not that interested and really would rather I'd said nothing as I would have originally planned...I'll start over.
Hey! I went out to Grumpy's tonight for karaoke - Joel was out of town and Kim hadn't put a "Going" status on the event page, so I took that as a clear path. Because Foursquare and Swarm allow me to easily overshare my travels with the entire world without the need for government intervention, I can tell you with certainty that I hadn't been out to Grumpy's for karaoke since September 4, 2014 - 53 Thursdays. I missed the place. I missed sitting in a booth, singing not so great but getting some sympathy applause and giving genuine applause for everybody else. I've gone out to Acadia here and there but Grumpy's was the place I "grew up" with, mostly from the seven years of Staraoke (and Timehop piled on THAT with a reminder that a year ago was one of the rare Wednesdays at Mattie's on Main for Staraoke, which was great fun but a bit lacking in attendance - this parenthetical will only be interesting to three other people, none of whom will probably read it - I'll move on) but what I'm trying to get to is it was super great to see, even after a year, so many familiar faces - tagging TifDynamite, Krista, Kelly and Marcus in the order I saw them - as well as half a dozen other folks I'm not friends with here but wish I was (including a couple who I'm sure thought I was insane for even showing my face, but I still enjoyed seeing and hearing them) - eh, I hope this doesn't come across all subtexty because I don't mean it to...in fact I'm pretty sure I've forgotten what my meaning was supposed to be. It was so great being there and it was great you were there too. There.
It was fun, I got another 4.6 mile round trip logged on MapMyWalk, I had a couple beers and sang "Believe it Or Not" by Joey Scarbury, "What Is Love?" by Howard Jones, "Give A Little Bit" by Supertramp and "Head Over Heels" by Tears for Fears. I hope it doesn't take me another year to get back there. I hope I make a couple of better song choices next time.
Now, let's see when I get into work! |
