Got this one on the way home, which ALMOST balanced out the crushing feeling of heading back to work after a week off which I felt all day - ah, who'm I kidding, it put me back on the happy side :) - "...and it's been true...all my life..."

Mason's asked me to join him for another four hours of record playin' and who am I to resist? We have a matinee shift at Clubhouse Jäger Saturday - 5 to 9 - and then after you spend an hour recovering from us, Lady Heat will take you the rest of the way beginning at 10. At 9, I'm making a mad dash to Reverie hopefully arriving just in time to see John's first work with RYKYGNYZYR - let me know if you wanna carpool. I hope you can make it out, sit somewhere and nod your head approvingly and/or shake your head disapprovingly! And do let me know if you'd like me to put anything special in the crate for you. (Event: An Early Evening In The Early 80s at Club Jäger)

If it seems like a theme is emerging for this week....well, they all fit together, but I'm not sure I have a real concept here. I'm just hoping you're liking them as much as I have! Orbital don't do a lot of lyrics, but this song has always appealed to my poor introverted heart.

As fresh as it was in 2001. Take that any way you like and you will be correct. (VEVO: Toby Keith - "I Wanna Talk About Me")
5.4.16 16:55 Yesterday while helping Natalie amass her snowplow army, I inherited a visor sleeve of CDs from the time machine that was the truck attached to an impressive plow blade (visit her timeline for photo). Knowing I'm a hoarder of music and also presciently knowing that these were probably not CDs she was ever going to listen to - and let's face it, it's not like I'M gonna, either, but it's good to diversify up the pool for the iPod shuffler to shuffle - I quickly accepted. After you see the list, you will probably not be surprised that these are all things I didn't already have (although I am a little shocked to say I really thought I at least had the Toby Keith track "I Wanna Talk About Me" in there SOMEWHERE). Here now, alphabetized by artist name, are the titles of the latest 12 CDs to be added to the Archive:

Susan Ann - Heart of a Child
Lincoln Brewster - Live to Worship
Garth Brooks - Scarecrow (Limited First Edition [whatever that means])
Jimmy Buffet - License to Chill
Johnny Cash - 16 Biggest Hits Volume II
Paul Colman Trio - New Map of the World
Dixie Chicks - Wide Open Spaces
Dixie Chicks - Home
Faith Hill - Faith - hey did I ever tell you about my wacky 20s when I'd constantly confuse Faith Hill and Faith Evans, what a kooky kid I was
Toby Keith - Pull My Chain
Tim McGraw and the Dancehall Doctors - s/t
Kenny Rogers - She Rides Wild Horses

This also tells you a lot about the previous owner of the truck! I say all this without judgment...well maybe I'm implying a little judgment...but I also know a couple of my friends reading this are greatly amused because they may have had these CDs around the turn of the millennium.

The best part is how I am looking forward to whenever tracks from any of these Desert Island Discs are randomly shuffled up, when I'll get to ask myself/any passengers in the car why I EVER thought it was a good idea to add them, MAYBE be mildly impressed by some aspect of the production/slide guitar work/vocal stylings/love of Jesus, but mostly remember that these came to me as a treasured throwaway gift from Natalie because I KNOW that the way she most wants me to remember her is to think of her whenever I hear Dixie Chicks coming out of my iPod.
