You know, now that Letterman retired I really have no way of learning about new music involving watching late night television because I gave up on all late night television. I watch the same reruns on Adult Swim every night, or I go out for a Pokéwalk, or both. Anyway, here's a more recent song I liked because it reminded me of much less recent songs. I also like to do it at karaoke, although I don't know how many other people like me doing it at karaoke!

On-site report from the Minnesota Timberwolves Hardwood Club Members Event:

I arrived at the line to get into the Como Park Zoo & Conservatory pretty close to the 5.30 start and found there were six Pokéstops active from where I was standing, so that was fortuitous. Line moved pretty quickly as we're all grudgingly used to the Flash Seats nonsense by now. Turns out that the player availability was going to be "6:45-7:45" so we had some time to kill. Once you get past the inherently depressing nature of captivity, there really are some cool lookin' animals behind the fences, glass and moats. Of course I took very few pictures of them.

They fed us! For some reason, I was surprised by this. Hamburgers went quickly and they were out at times, but there were plenty of hot dogs. For the vegans, there were....buns you could put onions and pickles and relish and mustard and ketchup on, I guess. Oh, and lots of bags of Lay's. Cokes/Diet Cokes/Sprite/Dasani. Simple, but didn't cost nothin'. They also had some tubs of keychains with flashlights on them so I picked one of those up because I clearly do not need another Wolves tchotchke but I also can't pass up a free thing.

We got to see a very special SPARKY THE SEAL performance! Turns out this is the 60th year of Sparky and the first year of the current (seventh) Sparky (not her real name). Still, pretty well trained. She sure likes fish.

After all this it was close to 6.30 so I made a beeline for the nearest line. There were four stations with 3-4 players at each. I was in line #2 which I felt had the highest overall average starpower. The wait was long but at least there was no chance of rain. There were bison to stare at....and children reacting to bison to stare at. Things got kicked off about 10 minutes late for my line but eventually Messrs. Wiggins, Jones and Payne took their seats and they cattled us through. They were taking our cel phones in addition to the professional/see-it-later-on-SmugMug photographer, so I have a couple shots of me with them and all of us looking at the REAL camera. I'll post 'em later.

I made it to the longest line, Line #1 for KAT. He was with Bjelica and Touré Murry (who I'm pretty sure will not make it to Opening Night). This line also had the neatest animals to watch while we waited - first, ostriches and giraffes, who I guess get along just fine - and then later the tiger pacing out some laps. I took some awful pictures you might or might not see later. You knew this was the "A" line because not only was Annie up front, but MR. David Sherman was our professional photographer. No cel phone photos on this one...or any of the other ones.

Here I made a tactical error and spent several minutes waiting in line #2 which I had done first. I'm convinced if I had figured this out just a bit sooner, I could have made all four stations.

I ended up on my way to Station #4 and, as always seems to happen at these events, had my close encounter walking one way down a path as fellow Season Ticket Member and Current Ex-Wife KS was making her way in the opposite direction. With nobody else on the path, I threw a salute and a wave and she heroically pretended not to see the man who doesn't exist. (I seem to have had that effect on a few people lately.) I mention this here because this has really done wonders for my plans to be really depressed on Thursday when we "celebrate" the two year anniversary of her telling me we shouldn't be married anymore. I'm not sure WHY I should feel bad when I get reminders of just how much fun she is in real life. But I digress!

Station #4 told me they were closing despite it being 7.25. It sure didn't LOOK like there was 20 minutes worth of people in line there. I tried to figure out where the last station was but then I was called over - turns out they COULD squeeze in a few more people. Hooray!

I think the REAL reason they wanted to close early was the mosquitos were starting to torment Messrs. Rubio, Aldrich, Muhammad and Rush. We'll see if they're still smiling by the time they got their photo with me.

Dashing to Station #3 and told that they had about five minutes left and they would cut off and we might not make it. I was feeling lucky, but ended up about one minute too late for an op with Pekovic, Dunn and Lucas III (who also won't make Opening Night). I asked their professional if I could get a photo with the empty seats to complete my collection and he was game, so we'll see if they put that one on SmugMug or leave it off. I hope they do because I'm sure I looked awesome.

So "6:45-7:45" ended up being more like "6:55-7:40," which might have miffed some of the other folks who weren't as speedy getting into lines as I was, but I assume everybody got at least two of the four stations and maybe that's good enough for them. I REALLY should have hit all four. My internal GPS let me down. That's OK.

I wasn't surprised that KG, Prince and Jordan Hill weren't there but a LITTLE surprised Zach LaVine and Gorgui Dieng didn't come out. I'm sure they had good excuses. Actually, Hill probably needs an excuse too. He's not THAT old. Unlike KG and Prince.

I actually ended up following the big fellas out thinking it would be an exit everybody could use, but it was some special path just for athletes, so I turned around and found my way back to the picnic space. There was lots of leftover free popcorn which I didn't want and Diet Cokes and water which I very much wanted. I made it back to my car and was home by 15 minutes ago.

THERE YOU HAVE IT.

Photos from me to come, and from SmugMug to come later.

The Minnesota Timberwolves home opener is at Target Center versus the Memphis Grizzlies on 1 November - that's, like, six weeks from tonight. I'll be there.
