I could make ELO week last a lot longer than a week - so many gems! This one was probably the first one I really remember hearing on the radio when it came out and probably kindled a lifelong love of hooks. I wasn't exposed to the video until what I'm sure was widely considered a much more appropriate age.

Let's go out with some drum'n'bass (and then continue with that this weekend) - hey, HAVE a great weekend!

I would hate to ruin this song for you so I will try to make you have to click to learn that...

...it totally rips off that sweet chord progression from The Doors' "Light My Fire" (in case you couldn't place it and it was driving you insane).

Back in February - I'm sure you remember - I shared the original Alan Parsons Project version. In March I had a cover. I've gone to the well again but this one is a little more in line with the original, just juiced up for dancin' times. It kinda makes me wish I'd worked a little harder on my own production techniques because I bet there's a lot of older tracks I could run through this kind of rinse cycle. Purists would hate me but the heads might understand.

As we get closer to the end of the year, it looks more and more like I've very loosely grouped these songs together, if at all. I have no idea what this one has to do with today's or tomorrow but I must have just needed to plug a hole. And this is a fine way to do it, really.

With the Opening Night of the NBA regular season fast approaching, I wanted to share this particular track which was the tipoff music for YOUR Sacramento Kings for years, long after anybody even remembered what it was or what mix it was or...but I think that's part of what was so great about it, that somehow I was able to hang onto it and play it whenever I needed that tipoff feeling. It ended up on one of the American ffrr "Platinum on Black" releases, I think? Or was it one of the imports...ah, who cares. I'm even boring myself. Listen to that sick intro and imagine it taking forever to get that JUMP BALL. Happy Monday!

This one didn't publish yesterday! It's out of order now. The world has ended.

And I guess here is where my imagination ran out. This song is beautiful, though - it's actually a traditional Vietnamese song ("Ca Dao Mẹ") and how it ended up on the first JAMs album is just another one of those KLF things. I share this one about twice a year.

After a brief crisis at Jäger when we discovered the turntables we were expecting to be there...weren't, our benevolent Mason hauled ass to bring us some and we were only out about 40 minutes of our four hour set. Moon was an excellent co-DJ and we did a lot of quick tags. There was a sizable yet forgiving crowd who barely noticed that one of the turntables was doing some skating and the other had a hum that grounding didn't seem to fix. A bit of dial twiddling from me and EQ consultancy from David Daydodge helped mitigate a lot of this - and man, few things feel better than DDD giving multiple thumbs (and even a salaam!) while perusing my crate. Sorry to the older gentleman who really wanted to hear "Start It Up" but would have settled for AC/DC, as I had neither. Sorry to the bachelorette party who wanted to make a request at 8.50, as I was busy closing things out with an 11 minute track. Good times! Thanks to all friends old and new, those there in spirit as well as a few complete strangers for making CRZ x MOON / Early Shift at Jäger! If I forgot to tag you, it's because it's 4am and I died!
