31.5.21 03:12 | | | Those of you who follow me may occasionally wonder if there indeed are foodstuffs in my house I won't eat and/or freshness dates I actually respect. About 20 minutes ago, I took a corned beef out of the fridge with the intent to throw it in the crock pot to have ready tonight, not paying attention to the Sell By date which I later discovered to be 01 May - I guess I thought the pickling process kept corned beef more well-preserved or whatever. Let's just say that when I unsealed it, the bouquet was rather....overwhelming. It still totally LOOKED the same, though. Anyway, I decided that what I had was probably a one way ticket to food poisoning, put everything in a big freezer bag which I sealed and threw in the garbage can outside pretty quickly. So now you know - meat out of the fridge is a thing I will pay closer attention to when it comes to dates.....eventually. Then I decided to try this thing, which tastes exactly as you'd expect it would and is pretty m! uch unnecessary. |

| | Last night I returned to close encounters of the social kind by heading to Kelsey's (I guess no longer) new place for a birthday party/outdoor movie night for Clovis, making a rare Minnesota appearance along with Chris. I figured this was a great opportunity to get a lotta Oreos out of my house so I subjected party guests to the sampler platter. I also bought three more from Cub because I love trying one or two cookies and then dumping them all at somebody else's place. There were some "vintage" ones in here - the fireworks Oreo no longer popped; I think they were the oldest (freshness date in 2018, don't tell) - the love Oreo sparked debate about whether they were stale or just full of weird, quite florally fragrant filling which altered our perceptions. The new ones were S'mores (great! Think they've been out before), Java Chip (better than expected!) and fake Nutella (very disappointing! I had high hopes and the cooky and filling just didn't work for me). T! here's still one stranger out there who will revisit my old YouTube videos and every few months will demand I record a new one. I'm thinking about becoming an OnlyFans creator because they seem way too oddly into whatever I'm doing to trigger his fetish. No shame in that, of course - especially if I can make a buck off it. These Oreos could pay for themselves! Anyway, please don't dip your Oreo in the hummus, thank you. |

26.5.21 02:52 | | | Attended an honest to God birthday party last night and this was her choice for us to sit through. It was a good movie to drink beer to... thus, a perfect choice. Turning on the captioning definitely made it much better because sometimes you're not sure if the music you're hearing is dramatic, tense or mysterious. I really have no idea exactly how little plot I experienced nor why Amorous Boy and his Boy Family had no names. Was this the last thing Angela Lansbury had to do for the money before "Murder, She Wrote?" So many questions, so few answers. Spectacular special effects for 1984 but if I'd seen this when I was 13, I would surely have had some nightmares...and then been very disappointed I didn't see any actual R-rated stuff I would have HOPED to have seen at 13. Anyway, good birthday party. I may be ready to be social again after all. |
