 |  | This is just mind-blowingly incredible - almost 25 years after it happened, footage from the Oakland stop of the Big Top Tour made it to YouTube. I had no idea it existed and never figured I'd relive this night - especially this, the Banco de Gaia set... a rather formative event for young KZiM. They don't really make it into frame that much but the butterflies on stilts performing in the crowd were especially memorable as well. Criminally this video only had 78 views. I will probably view it 78 times myself! I'm pretty sure you won't see my silhouette in the crowd as I was more hanging in the back....but who can say I really remember EXACTLY where I was that night? Elsewhere on this YouTube channel are other performances from the same room - which means a whole lotta (ugh) Moby and alas, no 808 State or System 7 or Kevin Saunderson DJ set (as they performed in a different room) ANYWAY. Wow!

It is with an extremely heavy heart that we announce the closing of Grumpy’s Roseville, effective Saturday, July 30th at end of the business day/bar close.
Over the 14 years we’ve been here, there were plenty of near brushes with closing the doors, but thanks to our amazing team and loyal customers we managed to hang on. In the end what got us was when the folks holding your mortgage say “Sell or we call the note.” Well, you sell. It is very, very far from the ending we wanted.
We have massive appreciation for the hard-earned customers and awesome regulars that made life worthwhile to be in Roseville, and the even more awesome crew/family that kept this show running for 14 years, past and present. All current employees have been offered positions with the new restaurant taking over the building, called Mito. Be sure to check in on them when Mito opens after a long overdue remodel/overhaul of the old bones.
That our last day coincides with the 4th Big Kahuna Bash was utterly unplanned, but going out on a positive note in an overall bummer situation maybe isn't the worst idea.

 |  | The fact that the show is still happening makes me suspicious First Ave will still see some income from this, and calling it a cancellation when it's clearly a venue change (unlike that HMS show which was the exact opposite AM I RIGHT) but after doing the wrong thing, it's nice to see something at least closer to the right thing, and now I won't have to say mean things about them on the air Saturday and risk a backlash of my own. ;-)

I'm so happy to announce that I have passed the audition and have now been added to the KFAI schedule! My show is called "Weekend on Demand" - new new music and YOUR requests every Saturday from 5PM to 7PM (Central)! My stretch goal is to have the most interactive show on the station...well, maybe second most interactive after "AM Drive" - built largely around playing as many requests as I can. With any luck, I'll be able to find order amongst the chaos of throwing it wide open to anybody ambitious enough to ask me to play something on the air, with a renewed push towards stuff you're just not gonna hear on any other radio station in the Cities - or possibly the universe. Failing that, I'll just try to play the new Jamie xx 7" mix before anybody else does. | Boy I wish I'd posted this yesterday - who'd like my ticket (value: $14.30) to the MN Aurora/Indy Eleven playoff game? It's at TCO Stadium in Eagan but I bet the folks at Black Hart STP would let you take my seat on their bus (value: $7) if you dropped my name - I'm emailing them to let them know...or, hell, tell them you're me, they don't check IDs! Don't tell them I told you that. If you want to get on the bus, it leaves at 6. If you would prefer to drive yourself there, parking is gratis, the match kicks off at 7 and is probably over by 9 barring any weird overtime stuff since playoffs can't end in a draw, I'm assuming. We'd have to do some "TicketMaster/Vikings app" stuff to get you my ticket but come on, brah, it won't cost you NOTHIN'! Oh and in case you didn't know, we're talking women's soccer, fans, so I hope you already have a scarf - or buy one at the park with all the money you've saved! | 12.7.22 16:34 | |  | Well, everybody's luck runs out eventually. The most likely explanation is I took this one home with me from Gothess at the VFW on Friday. I tested negative yesterday but had a little throat tickle, then a tiny fever, then tested positive today, both at home and then at the Midway center. They also foisted upon me a giant bag with 16 home tests in it so I can definitely test myself every day until all clear (and I'll have to because they all expire in two weeks apparently). Maybe I shouldn't have walked around so much yesterday but even right now I really don't feel BAD bad and am happy I'm as vax'd and boost'd as I am for this to feel so minor (honestly, the crud I had last year felt way worse) and also for managing to have escaped the rona for two years four months plus. Unfortunately that also means I can't go to the concert tonight, the Aurora game Wednesday, and I'll have to pretape my show for Saturday and no Assortment either. Beyond that...vee shall see!

| 6.7.22 15:58 | |  | The 4th turned out all right as my mysteriously blurry benefactor (okay, it's Trygg in his most patriotic garb as a member of Team Venture) purchased the shared experience of HARD MTN DEW ZERO SUGAR which was MY first experience with the long-awaited product. Four flavours are available - "classic" Mtn Dew is displayed here, Black Cherry, Baja Blast and Watermelon (NOT Major Melon, for whatever reason). I tried the first two and - get this - they're perfectly fine 5% alcohol content delivery systems. The Dew tasted like Dew to me - my compatriots weren't as used to the pretty forward artificial sweeteners I've already come to know and love. As far as I know, Black Cherry Mtn Dew doesn't exist as a soda yet but I'd be fine if it did given these results. As a frequent consumer of the Mtn Dew Zero Sugar sodas, it's a little weird to see "100 calories" on a zero sugar thing, but that's what gives it that kick I suppose. Better than "hard seltzer" (I think they're b!
